ASOSU Workplace Review
Process & Outcome
Part of the university’s ethical and legal obligations as an employer, the workplace review included an extended assessment of both student employee behavior as well as student employment in matters related to allegations of intimidation, hostile work environment, retaliation, acts of bias, and other behavior and performance issues. Student leaders had the opportunity to work alongside their advisors and other leaders within the Division of Student Affairs.
The review process was facilitated by ASOSU advisors, Student Affairs leaders, and external support, such as the University Ombuds Office. As part of the process, University Human Resources hired Stoel Rives to conduct their own independent review. Following a thorough investigation, the following conclusion was made:
- “Based upon the totality of the circumstances, the evidence supports that it was reasonable and legitimate for administration to determine that a pause in ASOSU operations was necessary.”
- “To avoid recurrence of these issues, it is also reasonable to conclude that changes are necessary when ASOSU resumes operations.”
