These opportunities are an investment in you — to help you grow as leaders within the division; to support strong partnerships and provide space for shared learning; and to give you the topical knowledge that will enable you to effectively respond to student concerns and contribute to student success. Read about these divisional engagement opportunities below as well as the division's Discovery Library that enhances our understanding of the student experience.

Student Affairs Leadership Institute

This is a comprehensive training for division supervisors, managers and leaders. The institute will take place over the course of an academic year and help our leaders process, synthesize and analyze important issues. Topics that will be covered include design thinking, managing through change and leading across difference.

Collaborative Cohorts

To support strong partnerships across departments, collaborative cohorts align employees with similar job duties or areas of focus for reciprocal learning, shared accountability and relationship building. Learn about the division's collaborative cohorts — including the Facilities Partnering group, the Central Communications Team and the Assessment Council.

Topical Trainings

Topical trainings offered by content experts prepare division employees to be effective responders, supporters and allies. Areas of focus will be response and referral strategies for students in crisis; public safety response, including compliance with federal laws related to campus health and safety; expanded awareness of implicit biases that impact student well-being; and self-care for professionals.

Discovery Library

Departments are often learning new information through surveys or research that helps them better serve students. However, this information is not always shared with other division departments that could benefit from the findings. The Discovery Library housed in Canvas will gather this information for division employees, and reports emailed quarterly will give updates on new data that can be used to assist our divisional efforts.
